Stamp Sets Before and After Organization

I finally downloaded the pictures of what 70 stamp sets looked like before organization and after. I took all of my new Stampin' Up sets and mounted them with either EZ mount thin or regular EZ mount. 3 notebooks later they take up a whole lot less room! Also I prefer the acrylic blocks for accuracy. They are organized by the current catalog and page. I take the sheet that came with the set and use a repositionable adhesive to attach it to the opposite page (just a sheet of printer paper) for identification and marking what page they are on. Sets with tiny stamps I have used a large Ziplock with 3 holes punched and then I slide the storage cling sheet into the Ziplock, then if any tiny stamps feel like falling out they are cantained in the Ziplock bag. You can click on the picture to get a larger view if you need a better visual.

To answer a few peoples questions: YES! This does take a while to do! Be patient. I would say about 2 - 5 min longer per set. You have to cut out first then lay on EZ Thin. Or even remove the whole cushion it came on (carefully!!) and then use EZ Mount regular. I love my SU stamps their rubber is superb BUT I do not love wood mounts for the amount of room they take up. I have been stamping for about 20 years...does that give you an idea of how many stamps I own.....I also own a significant amount of Judith & Heather stamps too and that is alot of wood.!!
Please E-mail me and I will guide you to a good deal on EZ Mount thin and thick HotPaws@aol.com

Sue,
Wow! What a difference! Do you keep any retired sets? If so, how do you organize those? Alphabetically?

Very clever! Wish SU would just move to acrylic stamps!

I'm looking to do a system like this. I already unmounted some of my older stamps but I think when I receive my new stamps I won't bother to mount them on the wood. I really love your system.

Yeah okay so just cause you've shown people another great way to use their SU stamps what's wrong with that? I don't demo but it's exactly what I have done with all of my Su & other wood mounteds. I store all of my by category in video cases. Organization in any form is great!

Ooooh -- I am totally considering doing this, and you've given me great food for thought! How long did it take you to do this?!

I unmounted all of my rubber stamps - over 7000 - now I have room to buy more - I wish SU would allow a buy the option of buying unmounted - I hate paying the price for mounted and hate killing trees. I have stopped buy SU stamps because of that - love them - but want the option.

I was a SU demo for years but once I saw CTMH I was an instant convert just for this very reason. Don't get me wrong - still love SU but no longer do the wood thing either.

Once you go clear and unmounted you will never go back to solid rubber and wood!

Thank you so much for your post on Beate's Yahoo Group and for planting the seed for this awesome idea - I took the plunge last night and unmounted 51 of my 65 sets (haven't done the alphas or the backgrounds) - they all fit onto 19 laminated sheets, and I am thrilled with the space saved and the easier visual as I flip through them!
